Title: Behind the Scenes of My Latest Project: Creating a Digital Exhibit on Female Gladiators

Hey everyone!

I recently wrapped up a project that I’m really excited to share with all of you. It was a deep dive into the world of digital exhibitions, specifically using a platform called Omeka. The experience was nothing short of amazing, and I learned so much along the way.

The Topic: Female Gladiators

Did you know that there were female gladiators in ancient Rome? I didn’t until I started this project! These women, known as “gladiatrices,” were as fierce and formidable as their male counterparts, battling it out in the arenas. Exploring their history was fascinating and it gave me a whole new perspective on the complexities of Roman entertainment and societal norms.

Learning Omeka

One of the main goals of this project was to get hands-on with Omeka, a digital platform used for creating and displaying online collections and exhibits. Navigating through Omeka was an adventure in itself. From organizing digital assets to crafting narratives that connect the exhibits, I managed to learn the ins and outs of this tool, which is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Check Out My Exhibit!

The best part? You can see my work in progress! I’ve set up an exhibit where you can explore what I’ve put together so far. Click here to take a look. I’d love to hear your thoughts and any feedback you might have, as I’m always looking to improve.

What I’ve Learned

Beyond learning about female gladiators and mastering Omeka, this project has taught me the value of looking deeper into history and understanding its nuances. It’s also given me a great appreciation for digital humanities and the ways we can use technology to share historical knowledge.

I’m already thinking about my next project, and I can’t wait to dive into another fascinating chapter of history. Stay tuned!

Until next time,
